Welcome to Central Catholic School!
Thank you for visiting us through our website.
Central Catholic School is a Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade Roman Catholic school that has the privilege of serving children of all faiths, socio-economic backgrounds, and nationalities. Central Catholic School opened its doors to students in the fall of 1974 and has been in continuous operation since that time. We have a long and rich history on the near southside of Indianapolis. Central Catholic School serves the parishes of Sacred Heart, Holy Rosary, St. Patrick and Good Shepherd. We are located next to Good Shepherd Church. Christ is the reason for the school and His presence guides teachers and students in all their activities.
Our 2011 – 2012 school year’s theme is “Extra, Extra Learn All About It!”. Our emphasis throughout the year will be explicit instruction by the teachers and focusing on individual students’ needs. Each class will stress the importance of mastering the skills as they are taught. We will use Acuity testing quarterly to help determine and benchmark student progress toward mastery of the state standards for each subject.
We start and end our day together in prayer with one another. We link with all grade levels through academic and social activities such as, reading buddies, prayer pals, skating parties, Fall Fun Day, Mega Reading Event, field day, and different projects during the year. We work to link with our community and to serve others through various projects during the year. We will collect canned goods for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantries, donate to Riley Children’s Hospital, and provide snack packs for students at Anna’s House.
Enrollment this year is 182 students who are served by our 20 member staff of teachers and support personnel. Central Catholic School is accredited by the state of Indiana. Teachers focus on teaching Indiana State Academic standards in all grades to ensure that the students are challenged academically. Central Catholic School has consistently rated at the exemplary level by the Indiana Department of Education. We incorporate technology into lessons daily by using computers in the classroom, Smart and Promethean boards, and NEO2s. Instruction focuses on research based strategies using the SIOP method and differentiation for student success.
